Sr. Network Management Systems (NMS) Engineer with Unix Systems Administration skills

Duration: 1 Year +
Description of Position
To work with a Network Management Systems (NMS) team responsible for the management and maintenance of the network monitoring systems including IBM Tivoli NetCool Suite of tools in a production enterprise environment. This system is responsible for proactively monitoring the resources of the Telecom network for availability and fault detection and provide enriched alerting to operations support. Possibility of position becoming permanent.
Responsibilities
· Impact Policy development, testing, analyzing, and deployment.
· Create and modify SNMP trap rules.
· Create, modify and maintain in-house utilities and scripts used to manage the systems and the network.
· Creating and generating reports from monitoring and metrics data for use in managing and improving operations.
· Develop and maintain custom front end web views and tools for the Network Operations Center.
· 24X7 support of systems, tools, scripts, reports and web views.
Education/Work Experience
Bachelor degree or 4-6 years in the Network Management field.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Required:
· Experience implementing and maintaining the IBM NetCool suite (OMNIBus/WebTop/Impact/ITNM) in a complex enterprise environment
· Advanced design and development experience in Perl and Unix shell scripting
· A strong understanding of Network Management Protocols and tools (TCP/IP, SNMP, Ping, Traceroute)
· Moderate SQL/database programming in MySQL or MSSQL.
· Moderate network troubleshooting skills.
· Design and development experience in HTML and CGI.
· Requires strong analytical ability, oral and written communication skills as well as planning and organization.
Desired:
· Experience with database design and administration with either MySQL or MSSQL.
· Basic understanding of Linux and Unix system administration.
